Social reporting

What is social reporting?

A way to capture soundbites, impressions, insights, learning from events (and other processes) in a social way by interacting via social media by using audio, video, text, interviews, reflections etc.

There'll be a synthesis session on Saturday which will pull together the results from all the sessions. Our work is on the margins of that but will of course support that as well.

So what will the social media team be doing during the event?

Documentation: documenting the workshop consists of reporting about each building block session via a simple PPT template.

We could also:

  • Ask participants after BBs about the results of the session, bringing together some kind of meta-documentation that will help the synthesis session – either through video, audio or written interviews that we can re-use as is or just partly for blog posts etc.
  • Yammer and tweet about the most interesting results of the session
  • Ensure we collect all presentations, videos, take some photos etc.
  • Have a few key blog pieces about the outcomes of the workshop and any interesting ideas that could be spun into a discussion

Possible social reporting outlets

Wiki documentation

  • BB sessions - are the responsibility of BB leaders.
  • Plenary sessions:

Overall architecture: Martina, Ilse; Internal comms: Tezira, Ewen; Knowledge sharing & learning: Martina & Angela; Co-creating local knowledge into use: Abby & Ewen; Communicating for policy impact: Holly & Michael; Scaling up and out of research: Jane & Tezira Synthesis: Abby & Martina (Ewen).

Blogging

Possible blogs to report about the workshop - let's check every day for 'blogging material'.

Bioversity blog?

  • Personal blogs?

Martina's blog; Ewen's blog;

Video interviews

  • Some of the 'participatory social media' session will be using video work.
  • Show raw footage of video work done for synthesis session / end of workshop? Ilse could help, Zerihun possibly.

Photos

  • Add some pix on the wiki (as a gallery) - Martina.
  • Some pictures for the ILRI FlickR: Liya & Zerihun.
  • Set up a DropBox to share with everyone - Ewen.

Tweeting - use #kmcrp

  • Not a big priority except when linked up with blog posts or interesting materials - using WLE and ILRI accounts;
  • On personal accounts as and when (left down to you)...

Yammering - use #kmcrp

  • WLE Yammer to generate buzz/conversation/questions with external world? Michael, Abby, Martina, Ilse. Probably one message to summarize interesting messages for scientists.
  • CG Comms: Interesting stuff as and when?
  • CCAFS CCSL: Interesting stuff as and when?

Routine every day:

  • Check each other every day for blogging material, pictures, interviews.
